I want to be clear: you two are taking this thing back to BASE.

This isn't what he intended.

He'll take over, though, taking the kitten and turning it over so that its round belly is facing up. The partridge is left on the ground, free for Heine to start butchering. ]

Huh? Is that possible?

[ well, he turned up on time........ make yourself useful, asshole.

anyway, heine is crouched down, plucking the feathers off the partridge before he starts cutting it up, but what Chiron says makes him stop abruptly. ]

What the hell? Why should I?

You're going to heal a kitten and then leave it on a battlefield like this?

[There's absolute disapproval in his voice, even as he examines the kitten's stomach.]

[ Poking the belly... Achilles is an ass. ] Probably worms. [ Muttered. Heine, you can deal with the disapproval in Chiron's voice. ]

[ god...... yeah, teachers are the worst.

with Achilles conveniently occupied with the kitten, Heine has to deal with the brunt of Chiron's disapproving Judgement. ]

I wasn't going to just leave it here...

[ maybe leave it somewhere else?? but it's not like they can find any civilian households here. and he can't just leave it in the trenches...

So you were going to do what instead?

[A plan, boys. Chiron sighs and leans back over to Achilles and the kitten, nodding in quiet approval of the diagnosis.]

Most likely. But the only likely remedy around would be garlic.

I don't know where we'll find that around here. [ Flipping the kitten over. ] If we can take it back to base, then we'll do that.

Heine is keeping it.

[ Just... godmodding Heine ICly. That's what Achilles does best. ]

I'll be right back, then. We can mix the meat and organs with water. [ He's getting up to his feet to go do just that. ]

What? No, you're keeping it. You're the one who found it.

[ u g h don't make him do this....... heine is just going to turn around and finish gutting the partridge, putting the organs to one side before he moves on with de-boning part of the bird so the kitten could eat it. it's still very little, so they might have to just cut it up into tiny pieces... ]

[Chiron sighs at them both, clearly unimpressed with the argument and prefering to just take the kitten in his own hands to give her a better inspection. A bath would help as well, but in truth, what she needs most of all is to be away from the trenches themselves.]

She's a shared responsibility. You will both keep her, or else there's little point in all of this effort.

[ There Chiron goes again, sternly giving them directions like a father would.

But he's walking away, laughing a bit in the distance because he's leaving Heine to deal with the lecture. He's getting water, okay! And a bowl. ]

[ ACHILLES, YOU GARBAGE. ]

Alright. Fine.

[Achilles is getting the look of disapproval in the meantime, but at least the responsibility aspect has been handled as best as they'll be able to. With that settled, Chiron gently gives the kitten a little pat on the top of her tiny head.]

Keep in mind that you'll have to find a way to look after her until we're returned to BASE as well. For that, you two need to figure it out. I can only check in on her every other day or so for progress.

[ Achilles will come back eventually, carrying a canteen of water, a bowl, and a bucket with him.

Heine, did you leave a mess of blood and organs on the ground? ]

How's its eye? Is it missing? [ He hasn't bothered checking, himself. ] I checked for wounds earlier. There's dried blood on its fur, but that could be from fleas.

[ he isn't that stupid....... it's a little messy, but it's still pretty neat considering he just butchered a bird outdoors with a slightly blunt knife. ]

I think it's missing. I looked before.

The eye is gone, unfortunately. [Chiron steps back, finally. His work here is more or less done, and it's on the other two to actually care for this small creature.]

I'd disinfect it if I could, but in this environment I don't imagine that it's possible. Keep an eye on it at any rate.

[ achilles is probably busy preparing food for the kitten, leaving them alone for a little. heine hunches his shoulders slightly, looking down at the kitten who's probably still in Chiron's hands? ]

Is it going to live?

[ his voice is quiet. ]

[ Yes, he's busy mincing the liver, heart, and some meat, mixing it all with water. ]

So long as you get food and water into her twice a day, I believe so.

[Chiron then holds the kitten back out to Heine. It's his and Achilles' cat now. He can't hold onto it any longer.]

She's in your hands now.

[whitehair]

[ ugh....... how is he gonna do that....... ]

Leaving already, teacher? [ He's wiping his hands off on his pants, having finished prepared the kitten's meal. ]
